New Year’s Eve Feast

collage of traditional Latvian New Year's food

Tradition dictates that there should be at least nine dishes on the table when welcoming the New Year. You still have time to whip up some gingerbead for luxurious life, cranberries for rosy cheeks, sauerkraut for sweet life, fish for prosperity, peas to save the tears, pork for strength and happiness, apples for beauty, beets for passion and pīrāgi for cosiness. Happy cooking!
